Abstract

This research intends to explore if and how an exploratory practicum integrating digital publication into language specialty can contribute to the curricular reform for tertiary-level language/literature programs. The proposed flip-learning instructional design aims to increase language major’s employability and technological proficiency. The practicum design and its feasibility are investigated from students’, the instructor’s, and collaborating practitioners’ views. The data collection includes 1) students’ work products; 2) interviews with field experts, and 3) student entry and exit survey responses. Based on the findings, the exploratory practicum in this study is a timely response to language majors’ career planning and the demand for curricular re-design in language/literature programs. Furthermore, the implementation of a scholar-practitioner co-teaching model will elevate the informational openness in the quest for interdisciplinary knowledge and skills.
