Abstract
It is also a challenge for teachers and instructional designers to create efficient online language courses given the lack of a non-face to face environment. At the center for distance learning of Empire State College, various online language courses have been developed and refined for over five years. This paper is a summary of the resources that have been used in our online language courses. We adopted multiple online educational resources and tools to enrich the learning environment and to meet the course objectives. For instance, students have access to online articles and videos to introduce current local news and cultural events; using various tools like Wimba Voiceboard, digital Flash Card, Interactive map, and Animoto to create a media rich learning environment. We will also discuss the Chinese language course and how students participants the online Elluminate session for oral practice.
