Abstract

In a comparative research study commissioned through the University of Verona, the meaning and associated value of digital technologies within primary schools was explored Researchers from three cities, Verona, and Florence, (Italy) and Buffalo, New York, (USA) engaged in small focus group discussions lead by the children themselves In-depth interviews of teachers were used to examine the meaning of digital technologies Within this round table presentation, some of the research results will be discussed in an effort to further explore how teaching in a culture of entitlement learning that is heavily influenced by technology integration may position a duality of meaning to digital technology integration in primary schools As researcher’s we are left questioning whether we are ‘being played’ by how students may ‘play’ with digital technology that is integrated into classroom teaching
