Abstract

Skeptics may be quick to question the quality of teaching and learning in the online environment. Thus, to answer questions about quality of instruction, it is essential to find ways to identify and illustrate best practice for teaching and learning that takes place in eLearning environments. Within the context of this article and the belief of the author is that the central principle in quality assurance for online teaching is to provide instructors with constructive direction and feedback on the quality of teaching, which ought to equate to quality learning. The intent of this document is to provide clarification for this review. Quality assurance is a faculty evaluation that judges, measures, or assesses the quality of the development and delivery of online courses/learning environments focused on appropriate design and best practice, and is aimed at self-improvement ensuring quality instruction in a non-threatening way.
