Abstract

The purpose of the paper is to investigate online discussion in distance learning in Mathematics. The paper describes characteristics of interactive multimedia tools with online discussion boards such as interactivity and mathematical communication as well as advantages and disadvantages of online discussions. Moreover, the paper states theories related to online discussion such as constructivism and transactional distance theory.
