Abstract

Abstract: The goal of this action research was to improve the intake process for School District No. 42 distributed learners to proactively identify at risk learners who would require support to complete online coursework. A secondary goal was to improve communication between (a) school-based personnel and online teaching faculty to monitor and retrieve students who would likely not complete coursework without direct intervention; (b) the online instructor and the students; and (c) the students of the course to establish peer relationships and develop the online community. As a result of this study, it was projected the that majority of School District No. 42 Personal Planning 10 distributed online learners would feel prepared, confident, and supported while using an online learning environment to complete coursework.
