Abstract

This paper reports on the findings of a pilot study conducted on the MBA level at the Stern School of Business, New York University. The paper will review the conception, implementation and evolution of the NYU Stern and XanEdu Inc, iPad App. The iPad Pilot at Stern became the catalyst for the development of the XanEdu iPad App. The App provides students not only with an innovative platform to access online course resources but also the ability to engage in collaborative learning activities. MBA students became key drivers in the development of the App functionality, which closely matches team activities and has become a valuable support platform for both students and faculty in courses utilizing the case method of teaching. The paper will share key insights from student surveys, focus groups and video interviews. Finally, the paper will explore the potential of an "App-centered” approach to learning.
