Abstract

This paper is a preliminary report on the use of iPads in the public school classroom to increase academic achievement through promotion of higher order thinking skills. Research shows that a majority of classrooms use technology only in rudimentary ways that address drill and practice and basic assessment. The specific iPad applications discussed in this paper can be incorporated into the curriculum to assist in developing transformative practices and programs to meet the needs of a diverse student population. In this session, specific iPad applications and their use will be discussed and demonstrated.
