Abstract

It has long been accepted that parents can positively impact their children’s development in reading skills by simply reading to and with their children. However, today’s busy lifestyles and economic demands which lead to both parents working outside the home and juggling numerous responsibilities may lead to parents having less time to spend reading to and with their children. Electronic books are a viable accommodation to assist busy families in promoting the reading abilities of their children. This paper shares research findings which support using electronic books to accommodate busy schedules and then describes the process for creating these books.
