Abstract
This paper describes top-level findings from a three-year study about implementing different models of electronic portfolios funded by the 2003 US Department of Education PT3 grant initiative. It provides an overview of what we have learned about institutionalizing different models of developmental electronic portfolios and their impact on preparing new teachers on five campuses throughout our state. Models include paper portfolios, generic-tool based web portfolios and the adoption of a web-based assessment system. The paper reviews changes we have observed in these pre-service teacher education programs and the resulting effect on the quality of the portfolios. The impact of each of these strategies on the integration and use of technology in these programs and ongoing sustainability is also reported.
