Abstract

Alternative teaching methods and delivery systems have become a focus of educational programs. Due to the recent development of a distance learning classroom at Emporia State University and the addition of a computer learning center in our division; the Division of Health, Physical Education and Recreation decided to investigate the potential of various educational technologies in order to better serve our mission as a teacher training institution. Our investigation centered on distance learning. What is distance learning? How can it enhance our mission of preparing students for the profession of teaching and providing inservice education for teachers in the field? What technologies would be most effective in accomplishing this mission?
