Abstract

This paper discusses some features of augmented reality, and the limitations of the current e-learning systems design. It argues that augmented reality designs can: (i) extend the immersion capabilities of the standard online learning environments in an integrated manner that cuts on the usual redundant functions of many software applications that are embedded within an online learning environment and (ii) the design of a learning object with an augmented reality has the potential to flexibly control and deploy learning processes, inputs and controls that otherwise pertain to different learning and perceptual channels.
