Abstract

This study was conducted to explore the relationships among teachers’ beliefs about web-based learning and attitudes toward web-based professional development. The sample of this study included 352 teachers, coming from fifteen elementary schools in Taiwan. It was found that the two instruments used to assess teachers’ beliefs about web-based learning (BWL), and attitudes toward web-based professional development (AWPD) revealed high reliability. In this study, differences in gender and age were not found to be related to the beliefs about web-based learning and attitudes toward web-based professional development. Furthermore, teachers’ rich Internet experiences were found to be positively associated with their beliefs about web-based learning and attitudes toward web-based professional development. Moreover, the results supported that teachers’ belief for the positive consequences of web-based learning is very important for their favorable attitudes toward web-based professional development.
