Abstract

We developed a field study support system using mobile phones and introduced this system into classroom activities. In these experimental classes, one of the most significant comments, deserving of special mention, is that the system has been building up a collaboration system with parents for classroom studies. There are two types of such collaborative methods. One is remote participation by observing the class, mainly via the Web. The other one is direct participation by collecting information using mobile phones with their children. This report reviews the experimental classes conducted in these four years by our project team, in regard to collaborative relationships with parents, so as to exemplify this system's possible contribution to the expansion of learning communities with system incorporation into the school curriculum.
