Abstract

This paper presents the findings of a study on a virtual and hybrid coaching model utilizing GoReact, Zoom & WebEx, and CANVAS platforms with classroom preschool teachers in order to deliver quality strengths-based early literacy coaching during a global pandemic and the two years following. The Early Literacy Learning Model’s (ELLM), as well as techniques, issues, solutions, and courseware utilized in virtual and hybrid literacy coaching from 2020 through 2023 will be discussed. Data were collected from approximately 800-1000 preschool students as measured by pre and post assessments utilizing the Alphabet Letter Recognition Inventory (ALRI), Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK), and the STAR Early Literacy Assessment. Findings indicated students scored approximately the same or higher during the pandemic and the two years following, when compared to the year prior to the pandemic.
