Abstract
Technological Collaborations: Pairing Pre-Service Teachers and Mentors This project addresses the issues of university pre-service and K-12 teachers' perceptions concerning technology and the role of collaboration in utilizing technological applications presented in professional development sessions offered at the university. Through funding provided by a PT3 grant (Preparing Tomorrows Teachers to Use Technology Today) at the University of Houston- Clear Lake, university pre-service teachers in their first semester of internship were paired for technology training with their mentor teachers from the public schools. After the training, a questionnaire designed by the researcher was administered to 15 pre-service teachers and their public school mentors. The instrument focused on four major areas:1) technology use 2) attitudes toward technology 3) role of collaboration in learning about and utilizing technology, and 4) perceptions of student engagement potential.
