Abstract

Collaborative action research is viewed as an effective approach to facilitate technology integration in teaching and learning. In particular, researcher-teacher collaborative action research can be an effective form of professional development in which teachers work alongside researchers to improve their teaching practice. This paper presents an overview of a working in progress collaborative action research project consisting of a Science teacher and two university researchers. The project was implemented in a secondary level classroom in the United Arab Emirates. The purpose of the project was to support the teacher to implement blogs in the classroom to promote scientific explanation. The study expects to provide insights on how collaborative action research can be used as a means to engage teachers in meaningful professional development.
