Abstract
Abstract: Secondary school teachers in Nigeria with particular reference to those in Edo State are faced with the problems of teaching computer technology as a course and also to use it to teach other courses in their schools in this new age of information technology. Computer studies and information technology has been introduced in Nigerian secondary schools but there are very few teachers in the system who are knowledgeable and skilled in this new area. Most teachers are now taking to distance learning as a solution to the requirement in the new dispensation. This paper examines the effectiveness and efficiency of the National Open University of Nigeria to help old and new teachers effectively integrate computer technology into their teaching. Findings indicate that some teachers are gaining from this online arrangement but there are shortcomings which this paper intends to proffer solutions.
