Abstract
This paper outlines the work undertaken by the TELSTAR project, funded by the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC) to create mobile phone learning resources. It will explore how resources for mobile phone learning can be developed using familiar technologies within the academic sector. The paper also explores the definitions of work-based learning and mobile learning and links the two together to create mobile learning solutions for students studying Professional Practice programmes at the University of Central Lancashire. Mobile learning materials have successfully been tested on three mobiles phone platforms; Android, Windows and i-Phone. It concludes with suggested research into creating mobile learning using existing OERs.
