Abstract

Arkio is a new collaborative spatial design tool that enables users to work together from VR, AR, PC, Mac, tablets and phones. TAFE Queensland, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) in Queensland, Australia, has been using Arkio at their Coomera Creative Campus as an immersive learning platform for the students to design together in a real-time virtual environment. Arkio allows the students to go hands-on with three-dimensional models using the latest AR/VR and reality capture (3D scanning) technologies. It also enables the students to mix realities and design together in real time for faster and more confident design decisions at a human scale. The roundtable discussion will take the audience through the author’s journey as an educator, from planning the adoption of VR/AR technology and the Arkio platform to the impacts of the adoption on students’ learning experiences and how they apply what they learned to their practice in the industry.
