Abstract

The rapidly changing environment of online higher education poses challenges for higher education institutions on many fronts. One that is particularly important is the need to develop and deliver high quality professional development programs to keep online faculty up to date and capable of addressing the needs of today’s students and the demands of other outside organizations. This case study will explore the need for and design approaches to online faculty PD and present the experience and findings of the launch of such a program at the American College of Education.
