Abstract

Using the New London Group’s (1996) pedagogy of multiliteraces and Mishra and Koehler’s (2006) TPACK framework, this descriptive qualitative research aims to describe my implementation of an elementary design workshop. I integrated my teacher expertise of writers’ workshop and infused it with digital literacy practices as I supported students in designing multimodal compositions using iBooks Author. The research focuses on my teaching, in terms of shifts from writing to design, and students’ design process. Students approached their study as designers, ultimately designing their own digital, interactive books.
