Abstract

Support for Teachers Enhancing Performance in Schools (STEPS) is a web-based electronic performance support system (EPSS) designed to assist educators in achieving Florida's school reform and accountability initiatives. STEPS can be utilized for just-in-time professional development or as a resource that aligns to Florida's school reform and accountability initiatives. The EPSS design permits teachers to access the WWW to plan, view models of planning, and gain new ideas in achieving standards and benchmarks identified through Florida's Sunshine State Standards. Several components assist in planning. The Lesson Architect is the centerpiece and serves as the EPSS anchor. Within the Architect are scaffolds that facilitate integrating curriculum and instructional technology and planning for alternative assessment and diverse learning environments. Scaffolds lead users to the InfoBase Resources, the Advisor, and the Learning Experiences (Best Practices Database, Web Links, Tutorial Library, and Model Units). Embedded within STEPS is a Coach.
