Abstract

The main objective of this presentation is to discuss ways in which students' learning preferences, as identified by personality-type indicators, influence their participation in cooperative e-learning groups. Strategies for employing personality profiling to nurture communication and participation in cooperative e-learning groups and as a group learning selection and placement strategy will be presented. By the end of the session, participants will be able to: describe the benefits for using personality profiling to enhance communication in both face-to-face and online settings; explain how personality promotes individualized learning in small and whole group settings; and identify group formation strategies for improving instructional effectiveness. The design strategies and personality profiling instruments presented during this discussion can be applied in both PK-12 and college settings.
