Abstract

Based on a recent study comparing the development of parasocial relationships and interaction in virtual reality and traditional media, this paper explores resultant pedagogical implications and poses questions regarding immersive instruction and pedagogical agents. These results are discussed in respect to the nascent generative artificial intelligence movement, specifically considerations of "fully realized" virtual pedagogical agents. For further study, we recommend the use of research methodologies and approaches tailored for uncovering deeper understandings of human-technology relations.
