Abstract
Seven institutions in the State of Ohio have formed a Consortium in an effort to create well-educated and highly trained personnel in fire fighting occupations. The Consortium will establish course equivalencies throughout the state that allow individuals to mix and match offerings from various institutions to create a more cohesive and seamless pathway to completion of both associate and baccalaureate degrees in the field of Fire Science. The development of online courses will help to break down the barriers faced by firefighters when coordinating their academic needs with required shift changes, family responsibilities, academic schedules and calendars, and long distances away from training facilities.
