Abstract

This study explored the relationship between teachers' attitudes toward technology, their reported levels of technology integration in their classroom practices, and background characteristics that have been associated with attitudes toward classroom applications of computers and technology in related literature. Rather than positive attitudes, the key attitudes expressed by teachers had professional salience-- i.e., the value of computers and computing to their professional productivity and professional competence. These results suggest that when teachers concur that technology has important implications for their professional growth, they will be more likely to integrate technology and do so at higher levels.
