Abstract

Though it has been rightly said that what is wrong with education cannot be fixed with technology; there is no doubt that modern life is dominated by technology. This study therefore examines the influence of teacher competence and availability of e-learning resources in the teaching of mathematics in secondary school. Ninety two (92) mathematics teachers from thirty one (31) randomly selected secondary schools, in Oyo north Senatorial district of Oyo State, to participate in the study. Two instruments were used for data collection. The findings revealed that none of the mathematics teachers attended some form of ICT courses on power point, data logging, flash animation, excel and software CDs, which impacts significantly on mathematics teaching. Hence, only10% of the participants had satisfactory levels of skill in e-mail access and internet browsing. The face of ICT incompetence of mathematics teachers is hindered by lack of E-learning resources
