Abstract
Interaction is a necessary aspect of a distance learning programme. The University of South Africa is an Open Distance Learning (ODL) organization with a large number of students distributed throughout the country. Student support programmes were not reaching all students in the past and a new e-tutoring model was implemented in 2013 to better support all students. The paper describes the lessons learnt in the first iteration of the implementation and provides a framework for evaluating two key processes of integrating new technologies and teaching and learning models.
