Abstract

As the acquisition of ICT (Information & Communication Technology) skills is increasingly on demand, much investment has been placed on organizing ICT training programs for in-service teachers. Nevertheless, the effects of using ICT in teaching and learning have not achieved the expected outcomes. Hence, ICT competency standards are essential and timely to be developed to serve as a guide for organizing effective ICT training programs. In this paper, an overview is provided on the research design of developing valid and reliable ICT competency standards for teachers using the Delphi technique. The Delphi technique is an iterative multistage process used to obtain consensus from experts using a series of data collection and analysis techniques. This study is carried out to gather consensus on the types of important ICT competencies to be mastered by Science and Mathematics teachers, and ultimately to develop the ICT competency standards for Science and Mathematics teachers.
