Abstract
Twitter is a popular site and service for sending and receiving messages, called ‘tweets,’ that are less than 140 characters in length. The purpose of this symposium is to report the results of a qualitative investigation of how tweets are being used in formal and informal educational settings. Examples of the categories of tweets sent by three public libraries from different parts of the country and from two national museums will be presented and discussed during this highly interactive presentation. Examples of how Twitter is used in a high school classroom will also be shared and discussed. Participants will have opportunities to ask questions, discuss information and also share their own experiences throughout the proposal symposium.
