Abstract
The potential for wireless computing and internet access to benefit instruction, and learning, on University campuses revolves upon its ubiquity and reliability. Although, the practitioner literature has followed the enormous growth of wireless communication and computing technologies, little attention has been given in the academic literature in relation to user acceptance of WLANs. The Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology model consists of a great promise to enhance our understanding of user acceptance (Venkatesh et. al., 2003). A slightly modified model is used to measure the acceptance and usage level of WLANS by students in two private universities in Cyprus. Employing a quantitative approach, It investigates the degree of awareness, future adoption and utilization of a newly WLANS campus environment. The results will be used for deploying, managing and enhancing the wireless services in the educational settings.
