Abstract
This paper shares the results of a research synthesis to investigate the state of knowledge about the development of global digital citizenship skills in Canadian youth. While reviewing literature about youth online practices and challenges they face going digital, the skills they need to develop to become active and responsible citizens of a global digital and interconnected world, as well as educational policies and practices helping them to acquire such skills. While there is a clear increase in research about the issues of digital citizenship in a global world, as well as in attention educational systems pay dealing with associated challenges regarding curriculum development, resources, and teacher education and professional development, deeper investigation into pedagogical practices providing inclusive digital citizenship education for all is needed.
