Abstract

Feedback currently given in online courses is primarily written. However, the advent of learning management systems (LMS) that include options for providing audio and visual feedback raise a question of effectiveness and efficiency for online instructors. In an effort to support the teaching and learning goals of university faculty teaching online courses, a group of faculty and the university instructional designer partnered to explore the realities of technology enhanced feedback (TEF). For the current study, TEF was defined as feedback provided through use of audio or visual media. Results showed both benefits and challenges to TEF, with a preference for combining written and TEF.
