Abstract

This paper shows the experience at Monterrey Tech. Mexico. Since 1999, we have been developing the Interactive Digital Laboratory (IDL) concept, this is a semi-virtual environment, in which the students can do experiments in a secure and protected situation, this exposes them to the phenomena and experience of a chemical laboratory practice, with all the possible aspects of a real situation in a theme which has a high value to study. With this approach, it is possible to extrapolate to knowledge and skills in a real situation with a greater degree of competence and clearness, establishing meaningful learning, with the subsequent environmental and human resources protection, saving in equipment, chemicals, physicals and money resources. The IDL has three learning spaces to do the experiments which are explained in the paper.
