Abstract

The Historical Voices Educators' Forum project concerns itself with the educational use of aural artifacts in K-12 classrooms to improve teachers' practices and pedagogy in the schools. The presentation will demonstrate and articulate different ways teachers have found to effectively use audio artifacts in their teaching, as well as develop purposeful activities that require students to explore the Internet for content and material beyond the traditional lessons. Additionally sample lessons designed by teachers will be compared that outline how these materials have and can be successfully integrated into classroom instruction. A fundamental characteristic of these lesson plans is the connection found between current real life events and historical events. Such life occurrences cut across different disciplines.
