Abstract

This paper addresses the issues involved with the implementation of electronic portfolios on a college-wide basis. Important elements of traditional portfolio assessment, including philosophy, reliability, and validity are discussed, particularly in terms of the roles they play in an online system. Some of the complexities involved in developing and implementing a campus-wide efolio system are identified, and an open source model is proposed as a potential solution for managing much of this complexity.
