Abstract

One question for faculty and organizations is how to use podcasting to enhance visibility. Very few outside of the field of Visual Literacy (VL) know what VL or the International Visual Literacy Association (IVLA) is. So, in an attempt to spread the word about VL and IVLA, a podcast was created addressing the information, design, and pedagogical needs of various audiences. At the same time, our hope was to begin reflection and discussion on the concept and applications of VL, and what both mean in the context of the 21st century for those working in the VL area as well as closely related fields. This session covers how DePaul University's Information Services staff and faculty jointly created a podcast for the IVLA, what comments were received and how the suggestions were incorporated into new endeavours.
