Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship of preservice teachers' gender, age and major and their intent of using computer-based technology in educational settings. There were 208 participants in this study; they were enrolled in a "Teaching with Microcomputers" class at a major university in the Rocky Mountain region. The instrument used in this study was the "Intent to Use Computer-based Technology Survey" (ITUCTS). The results showed that preservice teachers' gender and age significantly affected either overall intent to use computer-based technology or its sub dimensions. In this study preservice teachers' major was found to be an insignificant predictor of overall score on Intent to Use Computer-based Technology and on all the sub dimensions of Intent to Use Computer-based Technology Survey. The paper concludes by stating the limitations and implications of this study.
