Abstract

This research reports on the final phase (Phase III) of an Erasmus+ EU Project, Educational Knowledge Transfer (EKT) platform. The EKT platform supported school placement mentors, tutors, and pre-service teachers during their practicum in school. The design of the EKT platform was unique as it was based on the outcome of extensive consultation with academic and technical partners. This paper reports on the results of questionnaires and interviews administered in each partner institution during the longer research phase (III) of the project. The various factors that impacted on EKT implementation are discussed in this paper. Results indicate that the EKT platform provided a communication ‘safe space’ for placement and supported all members of the placement triad. Some resistance to change was evident where some partners preferred to use existing institutional technologies, especially during school placement, which is a pressurized time for placement tutors, preservice teachers, and school mentors.
