Teachers Paying Teachers? A Guide for Teacher Educators Seeking to Understand Online Teacherpreneurship

Abstract
Online teacherpreneurs are current and former P-12 teachers who post digital lesson materials to websites such as TeachersPayTeachers.com, earning small profits each time teachers download them. In this best practice session tailored to teacher educators, we provide an overview of the concept and explore relevant research. Then we present a series of action steps for teacher educators who are interested in understanding online teacherpreneurship, and consider how to support teacher education students in navigating the challenges and opportunities that for-profit educational materials pose. The session concludes by presenting readings, discussion prompts, and learning activities that aim to guide teacher educators and their students in understanding online teacherpreneurship and exploring controversies relating to the topic.
