Abstract

Virtual simulation technologies today provide several benefits for the health sciences. The study first describes the results of a systematical literature review that is provided to better understand the current developments in the field of virtual simulators for the health sciences. Then, the simulators specifically developed for the field of neurosurgery are summarized. Afterwards, virtual simulation tool named as ECE system is introduced in this study to contribute the research and developments in the field of neurosurgery. An experimental study based on a surgical simulation scenario (designed in ECE System for skill training) is conducted to better understand the possible benefits of virtual simulators for the health sciences and the results are examined. The results of this study aims to better organize and manage the education programs of the neurosurgery by improving through virtual simulation technologies.
