Abstract
This presentation gives an overview of ongoing research into the possible benefits of synchronous online communication in a mainly asynchronous distance learning environment in teacher education. Goal is to reinforce social connectedness and learning process of the students. In this presentation attention is given to current educational design, results of research in the past and design of ongoing research.
