Abstract

This paper intends to report on a variety of innovative ways to utilize technology in teaching basic math skills and to motivate students in mastering the basic skills. Teachers will be able to turn so-called boring practice routines into interactive enjoyable learning experience for students to learn the basic concepts necessary for further exploration in the depth of mathematics, therefore to lay a solid foundation. Our experience also showed us that using technology in teaching does not mean simply putting students in front of the computer. The instructional materials have to be carefully designed which will provide opportunities for authentic learning, hence to achieve the outcomes that are expected.
