Abstract

Higher education institutions have moved from offering selective online courses to providing complete online programs. To maximize the learning potential of distance learners quality indicators should be identified from learners’ perceptions as learners. The aim of this study was to identify quality indicators for student learning outcomes based on data collected from the Master of Science in Agronomy Distance Program at ISU. Since the beginning of the online program, collaboration was developed with the School of Education at ISU, which leads the evaluation processes of the courses and activities offered by the distance program. The program is currently being evaluated for overall quality. Interviews and an online survey were the major instruments employed. Data were collected from students after their final oral defense. The results were evaluated to determine program’s strengths and weaknesses and identify quality indicators in distance learning from a learner’s perspective.
