Abstract

Creation of an educational game involves multi-faceted activities that should balance using appropriate educational pedagogy, a well-designed system, and game authoring. Researchers have argued that play is part of the learning process so that educational games should be used to motivate students to learn. An interactive system with video-capture virtual reality, used in this study, created a fun and multi-faceted interactive learning environment that engaged students in deeper learning. The quantitative and qualitative findings indicated that students’ problem-solving skills and motivation were promoted, essential knowledge was acquired, and their achievements in English reading and listening abilities were facilitated during the game play by the use of the physically interactive system.
