Abstract

E-learning has drawn a lot of interest, debate, and discussion among academics, business organizations and learners. Its emergence has enhanced the adoption of the learner-centered paradigm. The idea of e-learning have been well-understood by many academic institutions in the sense that it is not dependent on time constraints of the instructor, no limitations to express thoughts, new options and learning strategies become economically feasible through online learning. Regardless of the growing significance, it is very difficult to find an institution of higher learning that has fully understood the importance of social presence and media richness in an e-learning environment. Thus, the paper looks at how media richness and social presence could leverage effective learning across contexts and enhance the sustainability of the e-learning environment.
