Abstract
The study explored how an interactive whiteboard was used in a graduate level English as a Second Language (ESL) Oral Presentation Skills course in a Midwestern US university. The study aimed to shed light on the opportunities or affordances that this tool provided to these students and their professor. Findings revealed that students and the instructor made frequent and concrete use of interactive whiteboards to save and retrieve information, incorporate peer and instructor feedback during the actual presentation through the use of state of the art-materials, all while being actively engaged and lowering their anxiety towards the act of public speaking in their second language. Our findings imply that interactive whiteboards can be a valuable all-in-one tool for ESL teaching and learning. Further research and implications for practice are discussed.
