Abstract
Abstract: This study uses the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE 2008) and National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) and Performance Indicators for teachers to compare the integration of technology used by Pulaski County secondary and middle childhood teachers and secondary and middle childhood teacher education candidates at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR) teacher education program. The study examines data collected from 2001-2009 teacher education candidates’ exit portfolios, current students enrolled in UALR’s middle and secondary education program, and data gathered from Pulaski County, AR middle and secondary school teachers. This paper compares the readiness of UALR’s middle and secondary school program’s preparation of technology literate teachers to that of teachers currently in the field.
