Abstract

This paper raises questions about the readiness of in-service teachers to use technology and the processes used to provide in-service teachers with appropriate staff development that will help them become effective technology users. A two-day Professional development based on teachers' levels of concern was delivered. In these professional development activities teachers chose a grade specific curriculum area to redesign, using technology where it naturally fit within the objectives of the unit. Specific technology skills were attacked when the need presented itself. This professional development differed from that of the past in that it began with the curriculum defining the technology use rather than the technology knowledge defining the curriculum. Resulting units integrated a variety of computer and other technology.
